I know I rarely mention something about beauty, or speak about any of my beauty routines. But there are so many good products and news for this spring, I just have to mention a few favorites that are available right now. From the top left: the Swedish perfume house Byredo, founded by the super cool dude Ben Gorhan, has released a new scent called ‘Inflorescence’. The new release is a tribute to fresh spring flowers and contains fresh roses and pink freesias with a touch of jasmine and magnolia. Maison Martin Margiela has launched three new fragrances called ‘Replica’ with associations to places like ‘Flower Market’, ‘Beach Walk’ and ‘Funfair Evening’ – “Three fragrances that re-transcribe the scents that speak to all of us, resonate with our imagination, awaken our memories.” Both the scent from Byredo and Margiela are fragrances I have to try. When it comes to lip care I never use lipgloss, instead I have my favorite from Rosebud or Burt’s Bees. Yves Saint Laurent’s ‘All in One’ BB cream is one of the best containing SPF25. If you are going for some luxurious stuff for showering routines, you have to get the shower gels from Byredo – they are amazing! When still in the shower, apply the ‘Bronze Goddess’ from Estée Lauder. It is a body oil spray which make your skin super smooth and it smells like a tropical heaven. And at least a nail polish that will work your nails is this one from YSL in the color ‘Bronze Aztec’.

…with this ‘Opium Brass Tassel’ necklace from Saint Laurent Paris! Isn’t it beautiful? I just love it. You can find it here.
The perfect pair
Okey, so I have found the most perfect pair of ankle boots and you’ll find them in Hedi Slimanes first shoe collection for Saint Laurent Spring 2013. They comes in black suede with a 90 mm heel and you’ll find them here. Classic but laidback cool for an everyday look. Simply the perfect combination.

Here is a little gift guide for some fashionistas! For the fashionable jet setter: Del Toro ‘New York’ slippers in light grey suede, a Smythson note book called ‘Brunch Lunch Suppers Dinners’, a Balenciaga travel luggage bag, a croco embossed cosmetic bag from Alexander Wang, the most goregous shoulder bag right now – from Céline, a pair of hippie stylish sunglasses from Victoria Beckham, a camera from Edelweiss and some fragrences – these ones comes from Byredo and Grace.
For the golden girl: A golden choker from Chloé, set of gold-tone rings from Maison Martin Margiela, a sheer blouse from Acne, a golden jersey from Stella McCartney, a lovely reptile clutch from The Row, a YSL clutch called ‘Belle de Jour’ (with the old monogram), a super duper lovely fringe bag in metallic from Givenchy and a pleated skirt in creme from Giambattista Valli.
Logomania
I read this very spot-on article, written by Lisa Dougan. The head topic was the secret logomania trend that is back. Bold logotypes were huge in the early 2000 when it was all about conspicuous consumptions or showing off. Todays is all more about the graphic shapes of logos being a part of high-fashion brand communication. Now we are looking for something more refined and pieces that makes us feel classy. For an example, the french brand Kenzo has worked with their logo from a K to this season’s almost graphic symbol (read the Tiger sweater embroiderment as well as the Eiffel Tower print – sweaters that by the way has become too over-exposed and just too boring…). This so called subtle logo fit right in with the current wave of post-minimalist fashion. Even Christian Louboutin’s red sole confirms that a pair of shoes are their design. It’s about symbols – symbols that are being received with like-minded people, rather than sirens-blazing, look-at me statements.
So these small details, sometimes tiny fashion details, are true important factors of todays consumption of fashion. These details can have the magical power of making you feel real good – which always shows on the outside as well. It’s a so called subtle and secret logomania of today. It is very interesting to watch this kind of transformation and see in which way the industry and ourselves are heading. For a long time it has been ‘cheesy’ to show off you logo-printed leather goods, clothing and shoes. For an example: you wouldn’t wear the classic Louis Vuitton print on your wallet but definitely Bottega Veneta – just as expensive but more subtle and nobody ‘knows’ and recognise the classic braided leather except you and your sphere.
But I believe that the logo’s are truly coming back, in new shapes, but also as in original forms and designs. Like the Yves Saint Laurent label that turned to their roots with the name svitch to Saint Laurent (and the logo as well). I kind of dig the idea, especially if it comes in a slightly more classic and original designs and shapes of the products. In a time when you don’t want to show off your exclusive taste – in case of bags, shoes, clothing and accessories (the label shown as little as possible) – you actually DO want your like-minded people to know.
Regret
Ok, so there is always one piece (or several…) that you regret not buying, almost each season. Remember how I was talkinig about it here? That bag is from several seasons ago, but still cool. I was looking through my archives of pictures and I found these shoes, from Yves Saint Laurent (yes, no switching name if it’s not for this season, right?). They are still super cool and that’s a pair of shoes that would look great with my closet today! From the (Yves) Saint Laurent Ready-to-Wear S/S 2009 collection.
The change
Okey, so this is no news really, but since the logo switch is going to happen soon I just had to post it. After 45 years, Yves Saint Laurent, changes its name to simply Saint Laurent Paris. The new Artistic Director, Hedi Slimane has decided to change the name. This is actually quite common within the fashion industry, to shorten the name of the brand. For example Dior was before Christian Dior, Balenciaga was Cristobal Balenciaga and Versace had the name Gianni Versace. Hedi Slimane has actually done this once before. When he arrived at the post as Creation Director at Christian Dior Monsieur he just turned it into (the name we are familiar with today) – Dior Homme (by Hedi Slimane). It’s actually quite geniuos. The brand gets alot of PR and create a massive buzz around them. Even though fans all over the world are furious and cries their hearts out because of the logo switch (yes, no more YSL-logos). To be honest, I really like the new name and the new logo that comes with it. It is sophisticated, elegant and has this cool vibe. And I love that the brand connect their origin ‘Paris’ to the name. One thing I am not so excited about though is that the entire creation studio moves to Los Angeles instead of remain in Paris. Not a good move there, Slimane – french clothing made in California, US…?
Essentials

Self Service Magazine asked a couple of designers what they can’t live without, their everyday essentials. Camilla Nickerson, stylist, listed her Céline mocha mink oversized Crombie fur coat, her Trapeze bag in burgundy calfskin from Céline and her YSL fall/winter 2001 high-heeled and patent velvet loafers. In the middle you can see what Isabel Marant can’t live without, her fathers old watch. Nice huh? She got inspired of this one when she made a limited edition watch for her own label. The antique-inspired 18-karat gold watch will be sold in her New York store and starts at 9,800 dollars.
Cuff me

I usually wear silver accessories as my everyday jewelry. But when the summer comes I always get cravings for golden rings, bracelets, necklaces, cuffs… Anyway above I’ve gathered a couple of my favourite cuffs for the moment. From the top and clockwise: cobalt blue/golden bracelet from Pamela Love, sterling silver with ammolite from Jody Candrian, Erickson Beamon Byzantine gold-plated Swarovski cuff, Yves Saint Laurent arty gold-plated glass cuff and a Oscar de la Renta 24k golden cuff.
