Since I spotted this editorial featuring beautiful Kasia Smutniak in Vogue Italia March 2013, I kind of been having white shirts on my mind. I am always looking for the perfect white color, model, boy-friend-ish, and so on, and this editorial didn’t make my cravings go away… Love the simple look with the hair in a bun, the sleek watch and the hoop-earrings styled with the oversized shirt. It is such a useful piece and timeless piece in your wardrobe so I suggest you invest in shirt that is classic. Underneath I have gathered some cool, and classic, shirts that are available online right now. From top left: cotton-polpin shirt from Band of Outsiders, ‘Reese’ cotton-poplin shirt from Equipment, oversized striped silk and cotton-blend shirt from MiH Jeans and slender star-button shirt from Acne Studios.

In bloom
Lovely blogger and fashion editor Columbine Smille has styled this beautiful grunge-meets-luxury editorial ‘In Bloom’ for Elin Kling’s magazine Style By. The swedish semi-monthly magazine is my absolute favorite and find the features and editorials so inspiring. Anyway, the editorial is photographed by Jesse Laitinen and just captures this Spring’s hottest trend flawlessly – grunge. I love the fact that Columbine has taken the styling to a luxurious level – like styling Chanel with a simple beanie and the beautiful Miu Miu fur stole from SS13 with casual Birkkenstocks. And, oh that just remind me, I am totally hooked and need to get me a pair of Birkkenstock sandals. So utterly nerdy but yet cool – and comfy! I like them a lot and wouldn’t mind at all styling them like in this editorial.

Grunge at Saint Laurent
Since Hedi Slimane turned creative director for Saint Laurent there has been a few changes. First of all it was the name-change, which towards the public is the biggest change. But another great and utterly relevant aspect is the move of the creative studio. From the brand’s headquarters in Paris to sunny Cali, in fact to Los Angeles. So for this collection the main inspiration has been Californian Grunge. From the music to the invites were L.A-ified, with soundtrack from a San Francisco grunge band and art by the L.A painter Theodora Allen. Honestly I fell head over heels for Slimane’s first collection for YSL. The S/S13 collection was mind-blowing. But I was disappointed for this one. Where is the Yves Saint Laurent legacy? The vintage florals feels very unsophisticated as well as the sparkly over-pimped details on the boots. The dresses are fine, well cute, and fits for L.A. But for a fall collection? I’m skeptical. The highlights were the plaided shirts and the oversized cardigans, as well as the massive baby pink fur.
On my mind
Here are some stuff on my mind for the moment: beautiful suede ankle boots from Saint Laurent, python ‘Box’ bag from Céline, box tank top from 3.1 Phillip Lim, fur turtle-neck from The Row, beautiful suede heels from Alaïa, tortoise and leather sunglasses from Linda Farrow for the Row and printed cotton shirt from Burberry Prorsum (menswear collection and you can find this one here).
On my mind
I am longing for warmer weather and to be able to walk around in flats with bare feet, skirts and sheer blouses. For the moment I have got patterns and animal prints on my mind. Animal print like python and leopard are beautiful and always a winning concept. But something we will see more of, especially for the fall, is camouflage. Valentino has created a super cool mini collection with military camouflage for late spring both in printed scarfs, textiles and shoes (love the sneakers) as well as created camouflage patterns from Swarovski stones. Above you’ll see the flats and the studded Va Va Voom bag from Valentino, along with leopard clutch from Dries Van Noten, python skirt from J.Crew, silk blouse from Dries Van Noten and tortoise sunnies from the Alexander Wang collaboration with Linda Farrow.

Get the look
I totally fell head over heels with this previous editorial, ‘New York’ from the latest Vogue Paris. That is why I had to throw some things together to re-create a mix of the looks in the editorial. I just love the idea of taking on the Grunge-style in a bit more sophisticated way. Like pairing slippers with a classy trench coat or an elegant suit jacket in satin. Or giving the pleated/checked pieces an lighter feeling, like the Dries Van Noten shirt and trousers in checked wowen silk. Mixing heavy materials like wool and denim, with luxurious ones like silk and mesh, creates a flawless and very wearable look. On top left you’ll find: trousers from Theory, silver metallic jacket from Rochas, crepe and silk-blended satin tuxedo jacket from Guilietta, suede waist-belt from Alaïa, slippers with fur details from Céline S/S13, socks from Falke and leopard gloves from Alaïa.
Wish Outfits
So I am not celebrating New Years here at home in the cold, that’s why I wouldn’t mind looking like these two wish outfits the coming days. First out (the one above) all white outfit: Balmain shirt with golden buttons, python clutch from The Row, gorgeous flared trousers from Stella McCartney, the ‘Tate’ suit jacket in white from Acne, studded silver sandals from Valentino, thin necklace with wishbone from Cornelia Webb and glasses from Balmain. Underneath, a bit more french and rock’n'roll with leather pants from the lovely blogger Elin Kling’s collab with Guess Marciano, shirt (again) from Balmain, watch from Cartier, sunglasses from Ray Ban, shoulder bag in dark grey from Céline and a pair of goregous lace-up boots from Balmain Spring 2013 collection. Just some classic and great pieces!
