1 bag 7 looks

1 Girl, 1 bag, 7 looks by CR Fashion Book 2013 - Punk

You haven’t missed the CR Fashion book’s tumblr right? I love the CR site and pretty much visit it every day since Roitfeld and her team cover everything from editorial fashion to the latest Daft Punk album and the Cannes Film Festival. In her editorial cover Carine puts a twist on wardrobe essentials. With model Xiao Wen, Roitfeld shows one of the most classical pieces of all time, a Chanel bag, in seven different ways. I love the fact that no matter what style you have, you can wear this timeless piece to it – from punk to hippie. The editorial is photographed by Max von Gumppenberg and Patrick Bienert, and styled by Carine herself.

By Columbine

StyleBy Magazine issue 17 by Blaise Reuterswärd and Columbine Smille

As you know, I am a big fan of StyleBy and for their 17th issue of the magazine the team went to New York and shot several editorials (which you’ll see when reading this issue). Anyway Columbine Smille has styled this jewelry editorial shot in a tiny hotel room in New York. The model, Luma, looks amazing as well as hair, make-up, clothing – and of course all the amazing jewelry including brands such as Cartier and Eddie Borgo. Very simple, luxurious and effortless cool, exactly the way I like it. The look I fell head over heels for was the one above – denim paired with denim, how cool? The Boots

Eliza Cummings for Vogue China June 2013 by Daniel JacksonI must say I am starting to dig these boots from the Saint Laurent Fall 2013 collection. I wasn’t a big fan of the pimped-out ones when seeing the collection for the very first time. Somehow I just couldn’t cope with the fact that such a classy, timeless and fabulous brand as Saint Laurent when a bit mainstream and ‘hard-core’ showing of stuff that I basically could find at, well, Topshop (nothing wrong with Topshop though). I do love the fact that I have seen a lot of cool, timeless and classic pieces from the Saint Laurent in stores and web-shops. Apparently Hedi Slimane has created a ‘Permanent Collection’ that will be available all year around and which include pieces like leather jackets, denim, t-shirts and duffle bags that are all a great foundation in a wardrobe. I do like the idea of dividing the brand in such collections and lines. For the this campaign the creative director has captured Danish Freja-Beha Erichsen in the new Saint Laurent store in Paris (and the collection was a celebration of this new opening). Anyway the boots in this editorial is a pair I wouldn’t mind at all for this fall. By the way, great looks in this editorial from the latest issue of Vogue China, June 2013. Eliza Cummings looks effortless smart captured by Daniel Jackson.

Blood and Roses

CR Fashion Book issue 2 Spring 2013 Sam Rollinson by Anthony Maule - Blood & Roses Carine Roitfeld is one of those genius within the industry. Ever since her first day at Vogue Paris as the chief editor she kind of revolutionized and agitated the way of looking at fashion. Her point of view stated so much of what not only the fashion industry is inspired of and relied on, but also topics that are relevant and present in the society. Topics like plastic surgery, children as models and smoking were all captured in her editorials and it was always very contemporary with debates within the industry. Anyhow, in her semi-annual magazine-books Roitfeld is influences by her surroundings – like the birth of her grandchild in her first issue ‘Rebirth’. And as I have mentioned before, her second issue is inspired by ballet and contemporary dance. That is why through-out the book dance is the topics of her editorials. In ‘Blood and Roses’, the beautiful super-model Sam Rollinson is captured by Anthony Maule in poses inspired by the just dance and styled in gorgeous SS13 pieces like the Balenciaga bustier and the quirky fur pumps from Céline.

System #1

System issue 1 by Patrick Demarchelier Balenciaga styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé Fall 2003Couldn’t resist posting this editorial from the new born magazine System. In their very first issue Nicolas Ghesquière is interviewed as well as featured on the cover and you can read more about the magazine here. This editorial features beautiful Sam Rollinson and Kremi Otashliyska in several pieces from Balenciaga’s collections through the years that Ghesquière was creative director at the house. There are some amazing pieces captured, like the long-sleeved top underneath styled with that beautiful belt from the Fall 2010 collection, or that amazing bohemian dress from the Fall 2007 collection. The editorial is photographed by Patrick Demarchelier Balenciaga styled by super-stylist (and former Balenciaga stylist) Marie-Amélie Sauvé.

In bloom

Style By issue 16 by Columbine Smille and Jesse LaitinenLovely blogger and fashion editor Columbine Smille has styled this beautiful grunge-meets-luxury editorial ‘In Bloom’ for Elin Kling’s magazine Style By. The swedish semi-monthly magazine is my absolute favorite and find the features and editorials so inspiring. Anyway, the editorial is photographed by Jesse Laitinen and just captures this Spring’s hottest trend flawlessly – grunge. I love the fact that Columbine has taken the styling to a luxurious level – like styling Chanel with a simple beanie and the beautiful Miu Miu fur stole from SS13 with casual Birkkenstocks. And, oh that just remind me, I am totally hooked and need to get me a pair of Birkkenstock sandals. So utterly nerdy but yet cool – and comfy! I like them a lot and wouldn’t mind at all styling them like in this editorial.

Sporty Sahara

Vogue Paris May 2013 Andreea Dicaonu by David SimsSo today the May issue of Vogue Paris hit the stands. Can’t wait to grab this issue, the editorials that I have seen looks amazing. In this issue focus lies on the Cannes Film Festival as well as Punk and the exhibition of ’Punk: Chaos to Couture’. The exhibition that will open at the MET in N.Y this May was also the inspiration of the Style.com Print’s third issue, something I wrote about here. I am really curious about this expo especially since both Style.com/Print and Vogue Paris has taking it under their wings for their latest issues, and I would love to see it. Freja Beha Erichsen is featured on the cover in a punk chic look shot by the amazing duo Inez & Vinoodh. Anyway, I couldn’t help myself to post an editorial that I liked from this issue styled by Emmanuelle Alt from one of the location they been to, the Sahara desert. I love the sport influences and Andreea Diaconu looks amazing.

The Art of Mismatching

Carine Roitfeld‘It started out because I couldn’t find both of the earrings in a pair so I would just put different ones on, but now I do it all the time. It looks so cool, no?’ Carine Roitfeld says on her tumblr. Looks pretty cool to me, perhaps a new trend? Carine wears on the picture an earring from Dior, and in the other ear a delicate and more subtle earring from Chanel.  Have a look at some more of her editorial snapshots here. By the way, I read an interview with her and she seems to be such a fabulous woman. Carine mentioned that because of her age, her body has started to get weaker, and that is why she began to dance ballet. The former editor in chief takes ballet classes every morning and got so inspired by the art form that she dedicated a whole issue of her CR Fashion Book to dance, and her second issue is simply called ‘Dance’.

Karmen

Karmen Pedaru in Pop Magazine SS13 GivenchyKarmen Pedaru is featured in Pop Magazine S/S13 and looks absolutely stunning. She is styled in several key pieces from the ready-to-wear S/S13 collections such as the white mesh dress from Céline, the white dress with gold details from Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, nude sequin dress from Chloé and the baby blue dress with ruffles from Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga. I love the fact that the make-up is so simple, which leaves all focus on the amazing pieces. The editorial is photographed by David Armstrong.

Suburban

Numéro Tokyo April 2013In the latest issue of Numéro Tokyo April 2013 model Valerija Kelava  is photographed by Laurie Bartley. I absolutely love the location, in the dodgy 80s suburban, with the sexy styling by Felipe Mendes. Why wouldn’t a housewife stroll around in a pair of yellow fur pumps from Céline paired with a silk dress from the very same collection?
