The Resort lines for 2014 has been very strong and I have seen some amazing pieces and combinations. First of all, there were some fabulous looks from the Marc Jacobs Resort line of 2014 that I just want to copy straight away. I do not usually fall head over heels over his collection but in this Resort line there were some strong looks. There were pieces in silk, satin and fur styled with underwear and my favorite accessory for the moment – flats. Max Mara is also a brand that delivered. In their Resort line I had two looks which were my favorites which was the head-to-toe black and the head-to-toe white suit. Kind of dig the idea of pairing a cap to the more dressed-up-look, as well as styling the fur scarf, underneath the suit jacket.
Another brand with a strong Resort collection was Adam Lippes. Simple and effortless looks with that gorgeous feminine touches, such as satin robes and kitten-heeled slip-in’s. But there were also pieces that embrace masculinity with wide trousers and silk pants with sporty influences. I love these combinations and I am absolutely crushing over those heels for the moment… Wouldn’t mind them both in black and white (!).
I am very impressed with Victoria Beckham’s Fall and Winter 2013 collection. There are some looks that are quite predictable and that I am not that fond of. But, there were some looks that were just stunning! I absolutely love that we have seen more and more designers working with pony-hair instead of fur or leather since it give pieces a very luxurious vibe. Like the college/bomber jacket above with the chocolate brown sleeves combined with glossy black pony hair, or the black dress with short sleeves styled over a basic skirt. I totally dig the styling of the models hair as well – side-parted uncombed hair in a pony tail with a light naturell make-up.
I am very into the all white look (as you may know by know…). So I kind of did this copy-cat look from the Céline Spring 2013 collection. This is a look I would definitely go for New Years Eve. The suit jacket comes from Theyskens’ Theory, the pants are Gucci, the short belly top is the one I blogged about before from 3.1 Phillip Lim, the super duper nice shoulder bag comes from Givenchy and the pumps are Jimmy Choo. The accessories are Cornelia Webb (the thin silver necklace) and the beautiful loop earrings are Diane Kordas.
Balmain celebrated the launch of their new bag, the ‘Pierre Bag’ with a dinner in New York for a couple of days ago. The bag is a collaboration with Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing and the super cool jewellery designer Aurélie Bidermann. The majority of the crowd who came were dressed in Balmain Ready-to-Wear S/S13 – pink suits, black and white prints, pearl-embroided vests and amazing dresses from the spring collection.
The resort collections are hitting the stores very soon! Very exciting since there are some great collections this year – and some pretty sweet trends. Like, for an example, the leopard-print-trend. We can see it in Stella McCartney Resort 2013 where she has not only made suits, trousers, coats in the print – but also covered her pumps in leopard. Céline has this amazing coat (underneath) in the Resort 2013 collection and we can also spot the leopard in one of the leather pieces in the collection. Leopard is nowadays as important as black and white in your closet, so make sure you get your hands on a classic, yet modern, leopard piece this winter.
I can’t say that I am head over heels blown away by the Stella McCartney spring 2013 collection, but I really do like the highlights in the collection. She makes these beautiful suitjackets in black or white with matching pants or skirts and they are perfection. I do find one more look somehow very cool – a military green oversized shirt paired with a slim, quite elegant, skirt with see-through mesh – and the oversized black suit-jacket matched with a low-waisted skirt and belt takes the laidback masculine, yet ‘powe-woman’ look to another level.
…Saint Laurent Paris, their spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection looked stunning! I loved the idea of all the models wearing big fedora-felt hats that covered half their faces. A very sexy and elegant collection with deep necklines and back-décolletages. Tassles and fringes à la Marocco style were mixed up with rock-chic suits and sequins. A great first collection from Mr Hedi Slimane.
So it’s always this big fuss about the Septermber issue’s in the magazine world – since it’s the most important issue of the year. But I always love going through the next one, the October issues, because I always find the mags content so much better. All the biggest trends are already revealed so it’s always a more laidback and relaxed issue with a lot of good stuff. In the Vogue Paris October 2012 there is this gorgeous editorial featuring Iselin Steiro photographed by Glen Luchford. It’s shot at the riviera styled by Marie Chaix – and I must say great choice with adding that stunning Balmain suit in black to the editorial.
What an amazing collection! I’m stunned! First of all, the suits. They are perfection – and I love the styling with the bandaeu tops and the bare bellys (as we saw on the Balmain show as well). And the rings! Yeez, the models wear chunky and thin rings in a perfect mix when showing of round ‘hat’-leather bags. The skirts were a huge favourite as well – very girlish and I like the white edges. Love the hair as well with the fresh make-up…. The hair-accessories were stunning!
