Spotted some great pieces in the Balenciaga Fall 2013 Capsule collection by Alexander Wang. I am utterly in love with the dress above (as well as the boots) and I just love the girly shapes and the androgyne styling. The way of styling a dress over a pair of trousers is just so effortless cool and something I must do for the fall. I have a hard time feeling comfortable in dresses (always feels to girly in some kind of way) and by styling the feminine garment with a pair of slinky trousers will definitely make me wear it more. I am also a big fan of the way Wang has worked with mixing materials together, like satin, velvet and crepe-twill, all in the same hue is such a beautiful way of creating cool pieces – and nobody knows it better than Wang. Double thumbs up for the new creative director!
Clare Waight Keller has created a very Chloé-ish collection for this fall. I really am fond of the current Spring and Summer 2013 collection and had high hopes on this one, and she delivered. As always, a lot of Chloé-ish details, like the ruffled details on the sleeves, the skirts and dresses as well as the waisted belts that creates that beautiful Chloé silhouette.
For Vogue Japan December 2012, Steven Pa has photographed Kasia Strauss for the editorial ‘A Big Time Story’. The feature, which is styled by Vanessa Traina, is full of statement pieces from the Fall and Winter 2012 collections, like the short tweed jacket from Stella McCartney, the famous pair of lace-up heels in white and navy from Balenciaga, the block-coloured Céline pullover and the red satin Haider Ackermann long-sleeved top. I like the editorial a lot, but I feel quite fed up at these pieces for the moment. Especially since we have seen them in almost every magazine during the fall. Looking forward to Resort and Spring 2013, and not one moment too late!
Some of the Pre-Fall 2013 collections are now out! It’s very exciting to see what the trends might be for the fall, even though it’s way too early to even think about next fall… Although if you are a big shopper it can be ‘strategic’ to know what the trends might be, not only for the coming season but for the whole year. Then you get yourself some great pieces that will last in your wardrobe. First out was Chanel and the brand showed a Scottish influenced collection with kilts, tweeds and checked patterns but also with obvious vibes of romance and details from 18th Century. Even the slightly odd, but beautiful combination, Chanel has achieved to create a collection that is very spot on of the trends that will become big for 2013 – the more sophisticated grunge trend. I believe we will see a lot of checked trousers and shirts, styled with loose-fitted pants in leather or jeans – a boy-ish and androgyne look, but yet very cool and sexy. My two favourite looks from the Chanel show are the these two. Love the checked slouchy trousers styled with an olive green over-sized tweed bomber, as well as the look underneath – checked patterns goes overload! Not only Chanel worked with plaid. Theyskens’ Theory showed in their pre-fall 2013 collection, a checked, plaided trench. I love the trend and I am very exciting to see more of it!
Wow! The Mango fall and winter Lookbook 2012 looks amazing! From Kate Moss to Karlie Kloss Mango, Mango has now choosen super-model Karmen Pedaru in their new fall and winter catalogue. Tweed suit jackets, suede pumps, felt hats and western inspired boots makes this buget collection a huge hit. The Spanish brand has taken their collection to a new level and I love the simple and the very french styling. Géraldine Saglio styled the last campaign, does she have a finger in this one as well?
