I love basics and I am not loyal to any specific brand. Constantly I am looking for that perfect tee and white, grey or black hue. Even though I have plenty of striped t-shirts and long sleeves I can never get enough. For me the quality is the most important factor a long with style (of course). I really like the T by Alexander Wang styles (all of the above) but I find the quality real bad…. I mean I haven’t had a single one without default. Anyway, it’s freaking hard to find good styles so I wouldn’t mind these three tops in my wardrobe for now. I love the waist cropped white muscle tee as well as the striped t-shirt (perfect stripes). If you feel like me, you can find them here.
Python-print is very hot this season! Don’t know how to wear it? Start with baby steps, like implementing a t-shirt in your wardrobe. This one comes from Proenza Schouler, and you can find it in one of my favorite Soho boutiques, Kirna Zabete.
The ultimate v-neck from Saint Laurent. Closet saver. Get it here.
One of the hottest trends for this spring is the pyhton print. You’ll spot in on everything from bags to printed t-shirts, dresses and shirts. Balenciaga and Proenza Schouler has made some amazing bags in eclectic colours using the python leather. Christian Louboutin show off some amazing heels in snake leather as well as Valentino. I like the python print a lot! A great substitute to all the leopard animal print that we have seen for a while now. Above you’ll find the classic ‘Papier Tote’ bag from Balenciaga in the latest python leather for the spring 2013 collection.
Leopard is a great way to style a simple otufit with whether it is a pair of slippers or flats, a clutch or bag, a printed tee or scarf. Here above I’ve gathered some pieces that you can find online now. From the top left: leopard printed tee from Roberto Cavalli, red and black leopard scarf from Alexander McQueen, printed silk bra and briefs from Agent Provocateur, pony-hair slippers from Christian Louboutin, clutch in deep blue leopard print in pvc from Christoper Kane and flats from Alaïa.
So how many times haven’t you looked for a perfect basic tee? Or a tank that goes with just everything? I myself feels that I am constantly looking for those perfect basic – but never find them. Trust me, I’ve tried so many different brands but never found one to stick with. For an example, T by Alexander Wang – love the fit but lousy quality. Étoile Isabel Marant – great staples in linen jersey, but – bad quality there as well. Anyway, I saw these pieces from the L.A-based brand Kain and I really fell for the fit. Maybe I should ‘try’ some pieces from Kain – it could be the basics I am looking for. You can find Kain here!
The editorial ‘Sur la Route’ is styled by Géraldine Saglio for the Vogue Paris November issue 2012. The all americano vs feminine biker-style is captured by Lachlan Bailey and modelling by Anna Selezneva. Even if myself wouldn’t put on a pair of cowboy boots I love the simplicity of the Saglio styling – a great pair of jeans (skinny or boot-cut), a simple tee, a low-waisted belt and a great jacket – like the oversized suede jacket.
Some of my favourite streetstyle pics from Paris Couture Week shot by Tommy Ton. From the top: beautiful dress from the Chloé SS12 collection (you’ll find it on sale now) paired with a white chunky heels from Céline (true match). Underneath, the cap-trend is still so hot – teaming a sporty Nike cap with haute couture. The Givenchy rottweiler print is back and she style the tee with the fall and winter it-boot from Givenchy. And above, denim with denim – simple but yet very cool. Love the leopard jacket with the denim and the brown-tortoise cat-eye shades.
