The Resort lines for 2014 has been very strong and I have seen some amazing pieces and combinations. First of all, there were some fabulous looks from the Marc Jacobs Resort line of 2014 that I just want to copy straight away. I do not usually fall head over heels over his collection but in this Resort line there were some strong looks. Among others these three above with pieces in silk, satin and fur styled with underwear and my favorite accessory for the moment – flats. Max Mara is also a brand that delivered. In their Resort line I had two looks which were my favorites which was the head-to-toe black and the head-to-toe white suit. Kind of dig the idea of pairing a cap to the more dressed-up-look, as well as styling the fur scarf, underneath the suit jacket.
Another brand with a strong Resort collection was Adam Lippes. Simple and effortless looks with that gorgeous feminine touches, such as satin robes and kitten-heeled slip-in’s. But there were also pieces that embrace masculinity with wide trousers and silk pants with sporty influences. I love these combinations and I am absolutely crushing over those heels for the moment… Wouldn’t mind them both in black and white (!).
My current obsession is a pair of white pumps, especially know for the summer. I spotted super cool Carine Roitfeld in a pair during the fashion weeks, which she of course looked great in. Anyway I dig the way Natalia Vodianova is styled above, with a chunky knit and a silky negligé – and of course a pair of white pumps. Gorgeous Natalia is captured by Alasdair McLellan for WSJ Magazine June 2013. Underneath you can see two pair from the brand Gianvito Rossi, that has the most comfortable shoes! You can find them here and here.
Spotted some great pieces in the Balenciaga Fall 2013 Capsule collection by Alexander Wang. I am utterly in love with the dress above (as well as the boots) and I just love the girly shapes and the androgyne styling. The way of styling a dress over a pair of trousers is just so effortless cool and something I must do for the fall. I have a hard time feeling comfortable in dresses (always feels to girly in some kind of way) and by styling the feminine garment with a pair of slinky trousers will definitely make me wear it more. I am also a big fan of the way Wang has worked with mixing materials together, like satin, velvet and crepe-twill, all in the same hue is such a beautiful way of creating cool pieces – and nobody knows it better than Wang. Double thumbs up for the new creative director!
Topshop’s more high-end brand, Topshop Unique, has been well-appreciated among fashionistas for almost 24 seasons now. Since the popularity of the line Topshop Unique is expanding and for next year there will not only be a Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter collection but also a pre-fall and resort line. A selection of evening wear and accessories will be featured including georgette silk dresses and tailored jackets. As far as I am concerned, the first small resort collection that will be released in November, looks really nice. Simple, modern and easy pieces to wear both for an everyday use as well as for the evening. What do you guys think?
Speaking of scarfs, I remember that Acne Studios showed a cool styling of the silk scarf in their Fall and Winter 2013 collection. The models were wearing satin and silk scarfs – like a bandana – underneath a hat. Such a simple way of styling yourself and apply in your wardrobe. By the way, I love the colors of the hats! Blushed pink, black and navy blue – beautiful colors, especially the pink hue in the Fall (style it with burgundy…love that combination). Anyway, this styling something I definitely going to copy paste for next season!
The people at Hermès has done a quite cool guide for inspiration on how to knot and ‘play’ with your Hermès scarf. The traditional squared silk scarf can be tied in so many ways and can actually be a true closet saver not only for a bad hair day but also as a chic accessory at the beach, as a belt or why not a skirt? I picked out some of my favorites of ‘how to knot it’ in this post – I love the cool and bohemian vibe you get when knot it as the ‘Turban Croisé’ (above) or the ‘Bandeau Rétro’ (underneath). You can get the full guide right here.
From the Prabal Gurung Fall 2013 collection: satin, silk, embroidery, fur details, leather, military, harnesses and gold. Could it be any better? Don’t think so. I love army green and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the color not only in the wool and cotton military inspired jackets but also in the beautiful silk and satin dresses. Mixing black, gold and army green is just such an elegant and cool combination, and Prabal Gurung does it beautifully.
Karmen Pedaru is featured in Pop Magazine S/S13 and looks absolutely stunning. She is styled in several key pieces from the ready-to-wear S/S13 collections such as the white mesh dress from Céline, the white dress with gold details from Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, nude sequin dress from Chloé and the baby blue dress with ruffles from Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga. I love the fact that the make-up is so simple, which leaves all focus on the amazing pieces. The editorial is photographed by David Armstrong.
In the latest issue of Numéro Tokyo April 2013 model Valerija Kelava is photographed by Laurie Bartley. I absolutely love the location, in the dodgy 80s suburban, with the sexy styling by Felipe Mendes. Why wouldn’t a housewife stroll around in a pair of yellow fur pumps from Céline paired with a silk dress from the very same collection?
I have got jumpsuits on my mind for the moment! Such a beautiful piece to wear both during the day and for a cool and sophisticated evening look. I spotted these two black ones at Intermix, one of my favorite boutiques in N.Y. The one above comes from Parker. I love the fact that it is in silk as well as the spaghetti straps. Underneath you’ll find a one from Intermix as well, from ALC and is a crepe sleeveless model. You can find them both on Intermix online site, right here.
