There has been a lot of black and white graphics at New York Fashion Week this season, and Proenza Schouler is no exception. The exccentric duo behind the brand, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, has been working with tweed bouclé (with implemented leather) and guipure lace in this collection, a more sophisticated side that hasn’t been seen before. We could spot a lot of laser-cut details in the collection, both dresses and shoes. One laser-cut material looked like a fusion between leopard and hearts and made a beautiful pattern – a pattern that also was printed on the leather clutches in the model ‘The Large Lunch Bag’ (love the name). For this collection they have implemented fur details in the bags – we could spot shearling and black pony-hair (again!) that created a lovely combination between the coat and bag. There was one piece that was just absolutely amazing and that was the chain dress with hundreds of thin threaded chains all worked together in modern armour. Over all the collection was amazing and I love the idea of a slight more sophisticated vibe over Proenza Schouler but still remaining the playfullness and the utterly cool looks.

Victoria Beckham
I am very impressed with Victoria Beckham’s Fall and Winter 2013 collection. There are some looks that are quite predictable and that I am not that fond of. But, there were some looks that were just stunning! I absolutely love that we have seen more and more designers working with pony-hair instead of fur or leather since it give pieces a very luxurious vibe. Like the college/bomber jacket above with the chocolate brown sleeves combined with glossy black pony hair, or the black dress with short sleeves styled over a basic skirt. I totally dig the styling of the models hair as well – side-parted uncombed hair in a pony tail with a light naturell make-up.
The Row FW13
Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are, as you know, the creators behind the brand The Row. For this show the sisters rented an empty Upper East Side Town house for showing their collection for friends and press. The models walked through an amazing staircase and into different rooms showing off the styles. As always, the collection is impeccable sophisticated. The models wore tax heeled mules in red and black, styled with quite dressed evening looks such as satin dresses, suit trousers, tailored coat and jackets. Throughout the whole collection we could see some Asian and Oriental cuts, like the satin and embroidered coat, the high-waisted skirt and the deep v-necked dresses. It is an amazing collection from the sisters as always, and after the show Mary-Kate said “Without it being easy, we wanted it to be easy” which pretty much sums up this gorgeous fall collection.
Theyskens’ Theory
I am almost speechless because this was an amazing collection. I am just blown away by the simple, stripped down looks with that perfect straight hair and the bare legs combined with sleek gloves. I loved the skirts and the boots! That look is going to be my number one look for fall 2013. The materials and styles were mixed-up in perfection – v-necked cardigans combined with pleated leather skirts, over-sized knitted jumpers with miniskirts and pony-hair shorts with the boots. The collection was not all about the skirts and knitwear, I would definitely say that among the highlights were the white heavy coat and the wool trousers.
Derek Lam: The Shoes
Altuzarra FW13
Simple, sexy and fierce looks at Altuzarra Fall 2013 show. Black and white monochrome styles domimated the collection and were accompanied by fur coats and fur accessories – like the fur mittens (that we also spotted at the Alexander Wang show). The buckle details on the boots and the ankle shoes, well the total look of the shoes reminds me of the Guess Marciano x Elin Kling collaboration. Take a look for yourself here. Anyway, it’s a great collection for this fall and I am excited to spot in in editorials and on fashionistas for this fall.
Fashion week look
I would say that this look above is the fashion saviour look. A great warming and stylish coat with a cashmere jumper, a perfect pair of leather trousers and suede pumps will do the trick for a fashionista in New York bouncing between the fashion shows. The white wool and mohair coat comes from Céline, cashmere jumper and black suit jacket from Balmain, leather trousers/leggings from The Row, studded clutch from Valentino, suede pumps from Balmain, sunglasses from Ray Ban, chain bracelet from Hermès and watch from Cartier.
Alexander Wang Fall 2013
What an amazig collection! The combination of materials are fantastic as well as the looks. Apparently the first model made an entrance to the very famous champion-song ‘Eye of The Tiger’, which is the theme song to Rocky III. It become more clear that the collection had influences from Wang watching boxing when the models wear styled in boxing-inspired fur mittens and mohair-knitted slicked hoodies. Wang used brushed mohair to give it the material a much more hairy quality, a long with embroidered leather appliqués on alpaca, and overstitched astrakhan with silk threads. The colours were black, grey hues and rust-orange – all gorgeous colours for the fall. I loved the shoes! Sleek satin-slingback heels, the suede heels as well as the ribbed mohair ‘stocking’ ones.
10 Crosby
New York Fashion Week has just begun and as always, very exciting to see what the american designer brings to the table. First out we have 10 Crosby Derek Lam which was cool and smart looks for being his underline. I think the pointy shoes will make a huge comeback, no? Especially this kind, flat, chunky and very pointy.
