“Modern Matter‘s perspective – its central thesis – is treating the very presentation of the arts as an art-form in and of itself. From an experimental approach to design, to non-linear values in the field of editorial content, Modern Matter is a unisex publication which aims to examine exactly what can be achieved in the field of printed matter: ultimately, its approach is to use the physical page in the same way that a curator or a gallerist might use a gallery space.” – From A Modern Matter Magazine.
The debut of the new magazine System is set to May this Spring and it is a deep-thought magazine about the fashion industry brought to us by an editorial board of very influential persons – Alexia Niedzielski & Elizabeth von Guttman (editors at Interview magazine and co-founders of Ever Manifesto), Jonathan Wingfield (former editor of Numéro), Thomas Lenthal (art director of the journal Paradis) and stylist Marie-Amélie Sauvé. Their aim is to explore the social environment of fashion in context of what happens when a designer leaves a fashion house or an e-commerce site overtakes a traditional retailer. First interview puts focus on Nicolas Ghesquière, who is photographed by Juergen Teller. I am really looking forward to this issue, not only because of the in-depth interview with Ghesquière but also since it is covering profiles such as Yves Carcelle and Azzedine Alaïa. For now, System will be released twice a year, and hopefully that will continue on.
On the premiere issue of Vogue Ukraine Daria Werbowy, not only cover the magazine, but also is featured inside in this beautiful editorial photographed by Steven Pan. Daria who is the ‘Nation’s Pride’ wears a gorgeous Prada fur on the cover and a couple of more bohemian styles inside the magazine (I love the tunics and the soft laid back looks). According to the editor in chief, Masha Tsukanova, the first-ever issue of the glossy magazine is ‘part glamour, part rock’n’roll, and part casual’. Nice! I am definitely checking in on the Ukraine issue of Vogue in the future.
Just discovered this fab magazine called NUDE Magazine – a glossy fashion magazine from Iceland. Unfortunately their issues aren’t released in English only available in Icelandic (like swedish Style By Magazine – only in Swedish…). But I love the inspo and the chic styling pages (like the one above) so check out NUDE Magazine issue 30 here!
Ok, so Styleby Magazine issue 12 is soon out in stores and the reason for me to mention this is that the mag is my favourite one in all categories (!). Yes, it’s true. I mean sure I totally adore Vogue Paris, Style.com Print, L’Officiel Netherlands, V Magazine….well, the list can go on. But there is something special with Styleby. The magazine always capture every single little fashion edit you want to read about – and a tiny bit more. Anyway, in the latest issue I saw that they featured the Lara Bohinc Saturnus earrings and I’ve realised that I’ve to start using mines! They are actually goregous (hehe). If you want the go get them here!
The second issue of Style.com/Print is out on April 2. They have been following, among others, the creative director of Lanvin Alber Elbaz behind the scenes since he’s celebrating ten-year anniversary at the French brand. In the magazine you’ll find an amazingly funny quote by the designer, “I always say I cannot work with bitches; they block my creativity.” I just love Alber Elbaz!
Net-à-Porter feature, in their latest online magazine, their view on the It-girls of the moment. I kind of like the quote NAP wrote; ‘It Girls play an important role in the industry – they channel and pioneer new trends’ – very spot on. The It-girls on the NAP list are: Cara and Poppy Delevingne, Lady Mary Charteris, Bianca Brandolini d’Adda, Alexia Niedzielski and their absolute favourite Tallulah Harlech. Love the spread!
