Couldn’t resist posting this editorial from the new born magazine System. In their very first issue Nicolas Ghesquière is interviewed as well as featured on the cover and you can read more about the magazine here. This editorial features beautiful Sam Rollinson and Kremi Otashliyska in several pieces from Balenciaga’s collections through the years that Ghesquière was creative director at the house. There are some amazing pieces captured, like the long-sleeved top underneath styled with that beautiful belt from the Fall 2010 collection, or that amazing bohemian dress from the Fall 2007 collection. The editorial is photographed by Patrick Demarchelier Balenciaga styled by super-stylist (and former Balenciaga stylist) Marie-Amélie Sauvé.
The debut of the new magazine System is set to May this Spring and it is a deep-thought magazine about the fashion industry brought to us by an editorial board of very influential persons – Alexia Niedzielski & Elizabeth von Guttman (editors at Interview magazine and co-founders of Ever Manifesto), Jonathan Wingfield (former editor of Numéro), Thomas Lenthal (art director of the journal Paradis) and stylist Marie-Amélie Sauvé. Their aim is to explore the social environment of fashion in context of what happens when a designer leaves a fashion house or an e-commerce site overtakes a traditional retailer. First interview puts focus on Nicolas Ghesquière, who is photographed by Juergen Teller. I am really looking forward to this issue, not only because of the in-depth interview with Ghesquière but also since it is covering profiles such as Yves Carcelle and Azzedine Alaïa. For now, System will be released twice a year, and hopefully that will continue on.
I spotted the CR Fashion Book issue #1 in stores the other day and it really caught my eye. So I really wanted to share the beautiful cover, and some great photos from that issue. The book feature Kate Upton on the cover with the name ‘Rebirth’. Her daughter, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is also featured in the book from the time she was pregnant. The issue is full of images and ideas of birth, pregnancy and family. The ‘Lullaby’ editorial features the beautiful Marie Piovesan photographed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
