Wish List

Spring Wish List - Saint Laurent leaopard scarf, Alexander Wang tanks, Céline slipeprs, Dries Van Noten Perfume, Chanel roughe, Prada sunglasses, Gianvito Rossi sandalsHere are some stuff on my mind that also qualifies on my wish list for the moment. I am all about tank tops right now, even if it’s a bit too chilly for it. But I stack it underneath my cashmere knits and hope that I can start showing them off soon. These two comes from T by Alexander wang, beauties. When the spring starts to come I want to change my knitted scarf to a thinner one, and I wouldn’t mind this leopard silk scarf from Saint Laurent Paris (just in at My Theresa). Shoes that I want; suede sandals in navy from Gianvito Rossi (love these) and the embellished fur slippers from Céline… Accessories; sunglasses from Prada and stack rings from Dries Van Noten (love the silver/gold combo). And I need to update my perfume collection (as well as my make-up) and wouldn’t mind trying the Dries Van Noten for Frederic Malle perfume and getting myself some Chanel make.

Get the look

Get the look - Vogue Paris Feb 2013 GrungeI totally fell head over heels with this previous editorial, ‘New York’ from the latest Vogue Paris. That is why I had to throw some things together to re-create a mix of the looks in the editorial. I just love the idea of taking on the Grunge-style in a bit more sophisticated way. Like pairing slippers with a classy trench coat or an elegant suit jacket in satin. Or giving the pleated/checked pieces an lighter feeling, like the Dries Van Noten shirt and trousers in checked wowen silk. Mixing heavy materials like wool and denim, with luxurious ones like silk and mesh, creates a flawless and very wearable look. On top left you’ll find: trousers from Theory, silver metallic jacket from Rochas, crepe and silk-blended satin tuxedo jacket from Guilietta, suede waist-belt from Alaïa, slippers with fur details from Céline S/S13, socks from Falke and leopard gloves from Alaïa.

New York

Vogue Paris February 2013 by David Sims -Andreea Diaconu

The editorial ‘New York’ in Vogue Paris February 2013 by David Sims is just amazing. Andreea Diaconu is styled by Emmanuelle Alt in New York City. What can I say? The Dries Van Noten silk plaided pants paired with that checked silk shirt are perfection, as well as the checked trench coat styled with washed out boyfriend jeans, slouchy leather gloves and the combination of teal socks with slippers.

The new Grunge

For the moment I am obssesing over the grunge look. It was a quite hot trend several years ago. I recall Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen being the fashionistas that always nailed the look perfectly, and Marc Jacobs was the man on everyones lips. For this fall and winter season it hasn’t been any grunge vibes, but for RTW spring and summer 2012 there were two huge actors on the fashion scene who applied the grunge look in their collection – Phillip Lim and Dries Van Noten. Of course, the designers translated grunge in their own ways. I instantly got hooked on the patterns, the checked shirts, the layering – a leather on top of a shirt on top of a tee – the shoes, the trousers and the mixing of prints, patterns and materials (read silk with wool, cashmere with jeans). Hopefully, this will be more than a one hit wonder. The grunge look has become a classic style that always push itself back into the fashion world.

I am in love with this combo – patterned pyjama-look-a-like pants, styled with a heavy piece of leather, and topped with a classic western belt with silver details. Underneath are the amazing Dries Van Noten RTW S/S 2013 collection. It’s slightly a bit more sophisticated than the 3.1 Phillip Lim, since Van Noten has mixed more delicate materials and feminine patterns. As you may know by now, one of my weakness is leopard pattern so that is why I absolutely love the leopard printed clutches in this collection. I think it’s cool how the have styled the leopard – not as a eye catching piece but more like one among many other prints (flowers,, checked ans stripes).
