The coolest lady ever walked this earth, kind of: Jacqueline Lee “Jackie” Kennedy Onassis. “She retained French-born American fashion designer and Kennedy family friend Oleg Cassini in the fall of 1960 to create an original wardrobe for her as First Lady. In 1961, Kennedy spent $45,446 more on fashion than the $100,000 annual salary her husband earned as president. Although Cassini was her primary designer, she also wore ensembles by French fashion legends such as Chanel, Givenchy, and Dior.”
Above and below are the truly dreamy heels from the Christian Dior spring and summer 2016 collection. Patent, pointy, cone heels, and with a bucket detail at the front and on the strap makes these shoes the absolute it-shoe of the season. Also available in flats, similar to the ones Céline showed in their resort collection. This was Raf Simon’s last collection for the Parisian house so they will definitely become collective items. His words about the collection were these among many: “It’s a calm one, and very soft—away from the overdone. I didn’t want to embellish. So I was thinking about the South of France—rainbows and the simple things. And there’s a bit of Victoriana: something of that film Picnic at Hanging Rock. With a slight sexual undertone of darkness.”
Talented stylist Marie Chaix has styled this power editorial, ‘Chic Athlétique’, for the June/July 2013 issue of Vogue Paris. Model Hilary Rhoda is photographed by Terry Richardson and looks smashing in Céline Pre-fall pieces (I am obsessed with that buckle belt…), as well as all of the boots (!). The Céline pair with gold front and laces are killers, but I am very fond of the ones with low heel from Reed Krakoff, the black pair above – they would look gorgeous to knee-lenght skirts for the Fall. Chaix has captured loads of trends for the Fall 2013 in this editorial. Waist belt, knee-long skirts and knee-high boots, gloves and white – all trends that we probably will see a lot more of.
‘It started out because I couldn’t find both of the earrings in a pair so I would just put different ones on, but now I do it all the time. It looks so cool, no?’ Carine Roitfeld says on her tumblr. Looks pretty cool to me, perhaps a new trend? Carine wears on the picture an earring from Dior, and in the other ear a delicate and more subtle earring from Chanel. Have a look at some more of her editorial snapshots here. By the way, I read an interview with her and she seems to be such a fabulous woman. Carine mentioned that because of her age, her body has started to get weaker, and that is why she began to dance ballet. The former editor in chief takes ballet classes every morning and got so inspired by the art form that she dedicated a whole issue of her CR Fashion Book to dance, and her second issue is simply called ‘Dance’.
One of the most powerful and absolute coolest magazines on the market right now is The Gentlewoman. The magazine raises, highlights and features powerful woman not only from the fashion world, but also strong and cool women who influence – more like modern icons. ‘Modern women of style and purpose’ as The Gentlewoman would say. Phoebe Philo, Angela Lansbury, Adele are a few who been featured in the magazine. In the latest issue you will find the one and only Queen B – Beyoncé Knowles-Carter photographed by talented Alasdair McLellan. I just saw her documentary ‘Life is But A Dream’ and if I liked her before, I love her now. Such an amazing woman. Anyway, the Spring and Summer 2013 issue with Beyoncé is out now in stores, so go get it!
I have so been curious to see when this amazing satin dress from Céline S/S13 would be featured in an editorial. In Numéro Magazine issue April 2013 model Aymeline Valade is styled in this beauty (the white satin on with black mesh details), along with other cool pieces from Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga, Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Fendi, all styled by Franck Benhamou. I love have the looks turned quite raw with just adding the boots by Givenchy. Richard Bush is the photographer for this editorial.
I have got some specific items on top of my wish list for the moment. It’s a never ending story right? Having things you want and crave all the time? Well, I hope it never will end either. It’s nice to have certain things to ‘dream’ about or long for. Even though is just stuff. So much better with a vacation to long for though (!). But, there are a couple of things that I want, which I of course would like to share with you.
Eytys white canvas sneakers: these I have been waiting for a while! Hopefully I’ll get my hands on them next time I am in Stockholm. Céline hobo bag and python wedges: needs no explanation. I just need them. Badly. Acne Studios linen blazer and red mini skirt: the blazer is the perfect piece for me when to use as a jacket when it gets warmer. I have been eyeing the Célinen linen blazer, but hey, 2500 dollars for a blazer is waaay too much. So this is a really nice alternative. And the red skirt, feels very Vaccarello. Super cool and super chic. The Row ribbed sweater: the perfect rib and the perfect color. Dior pearl earrings: I just love these and the fact that they have pearls on each sides. Givenchy silk pleated trousers: silk satin oversized trousers would be a perfect investment this season for my ‘going out’ wardrobe. Repossi gold chain necklace: subtle and simple, the perfect everyday necklace. Chanel credit card holder: I need a new one. My wallet is too big and my current card holder is just, well boring, so I can’t get it out of my head that I want a new one. This one from Chanel is probably one I’d never get sick and tired of.
Speaking of Dior….wow! Love the black and white fur, just gorgeous to those white crepe pants and slickback hair. Reminds me of the Prada Resort 2013 collection (that was to-die-for).
For this spring I have got this huge cravings of getting myself a classic bag. A leather piece that becomes your best investment in your wardrobe for an everyday use. I have been crushing on the model ‘Peek-a-Boo’ from Fendi, I think it is a really cool bag, quite unique, and just the perfect size as well (for me at least). When it comes to bags this year, I have seen a lot of fashionistas hitting a more subtle and classic style. All kinds of models from Valentino, Prada and of course, Hermès. Another famous fashion house that are up and coming among the hottest profiles in business is Dior. These leather pieces has, at least for me, been seen on a more immature crowd. But I kind of been digging them lately. Above from the top left: Fendi ‘Peek-a-boo’ in black, Valentino, Prada and Fendi. Underneath: Dior in orange and navy, Hermès Kelly bag and a classy Prada in black leather.
Sorry for the lack of updates but I thought, since it has been Christmas and all, you guys wouldn’t mind. Hope you all had an amazing Christmas with your friends and family. I thought I would get some of you out of the Christmas-mode and into the New Years-mode with this beautiful editorial from Vogue China December 2012. Liu Wen looks amazing in Dries Van Noten, Vintage Dior, Proenza Schouler, Balmain, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Dolce & Gabbana. If you are a bit insecure of your choice of outfit at New Years, black and gold is a classic combination that always work. I myself is going to work something similiar, or anyway that’s what I had in mind for now at least…
