Joseph Altuzarra presented one of his best collections so far for Spring 2014. Striped slinky shirts, raw denim, embroidered details, gold and silver metallic lamé paired to perfection with simple jersey pieces in melange grey and white. The New York based designer who has his studio at Howard Street in New York had taken inspiration from Greece and the mythology of the women in the Greek culture.
I have got shirts on my mind: doesn’t matter color nor shape. I just want simple shirts for an everyday use. I am like addictive when it comes to the style. I basically use a shirt everyday. Here are my three favorites for the moment. From the top left: Isabel Marant Candice button-down black shirt, Isabel Marant Cheryl blue button-down shirt, and Saint Laurent denim shirt.
There were two looks which were smashing in the Balmain Resort 2014 collection, and that was the denim looks – especially the one above – denim paired with denim. The harnesses are just super cool, as well as the genius idea to style it with an over-sized crisp white shirt (so simple) – as well as all the gold accessories (what is a Balmain collection without its’s gold?). I am definitely going to do a copy cat on the look above, maybe in a more subtle way though.
I have got blue denim jeans on my mind. The bad weather has striked NY and it is more or less possible to wear jeans now. Anyway, I have got these perfect medium washed pair from J.Brand, but I am constantly looking for another pair and here above are some favorites for the moment. From the left: Étoile Isabel Marant blue denim jeans Pre-Fall 2013, A.P.C ‘Étroit Cropped’ jeans, and a pair of classics, ‘Pop Betty Cropped’ jeans from Acne Studios. You can find all of them right here.
Okey, I just love this look above from the Chloé Resort 2014 line, is absolutely amazing! As I mentioned before, yellow is the color for Spring 2014. The entire collection is beautiful, I have got tons of looks on my mind for the spring – like the pin striped denim trench coat paired with the denim boyfriend jeans, the ankle long striped skirt styled with a simple white shirt, and the wide trousers (!) both in white and navy paired with flats. Oh, my the flats are gorgeous, especially the slippers… The creative director for Chloé, Clare Waight Keller, stated that the trousers in this collection gives you room for her “barefoot attitude” – a statement I totally fell for. Waight Keller wanted the proportions to be just right, and sandals, as well as slippers, feels super hot to pair to both a chill and more dressed-up looks for just that perfect relaxed proportions.
I was at Barney’s New York last week, which is one of my absolute favorite department stores. They basically have it all – well, at least what I need and want. So I spotted the FRAME Denim jeans, which I have been super curious about for a while. I love the simple cut and styles, just exactly how I want a pair of jeans to be. Unfortunately they hadn’t got my size in for the moment, but I am trying to get a pair at Barney’s Co-op L.A instead. The wash above is truly gorgeous, especially now during the summer. But I do need a pair of denim blue ones as well…
The Olsen twin’s more price friendly line (comparing to The Row…), Elizabeth & James just showed their Resort 2014 collection. Oh yes, the resort lines have been dropping in one after another the latest couple of days. I love the resort lines, they are quite small but often highlights the most important trends for the coming season. In this collection I just loved the combination of styling denim with denim, the flat sandals, the skirts in knee-lenght and of course the headband (!). Love it, and I am so going to start using the ones I’ve got.
Absolutely love these first pictures of the Étoile Isabel Marant collection for fall 2013-14. I like the fact that Isabel Marant has gone back to her “roots” – creating pieces that are timeless and wardrobe staples, but of course with a great cut. I had a hard time to relate to the current collection (the Étoile S/S13 collection) with all the flower tunics and pants, owl-printed pullovers, pale colors (like yellow and baby blue) and star-printed jeans… That is why I totally embrace what I have seen this far! God, I love the peacoat, the thigh-high suede boots, the knit and the slight flared jeans with a simple, crisp white shirt. The ad campaign is featuring gorgeous Andreea Diaconu and is photographed by Karim Sadli.
As you know, I am a big fan of StyleBy and for their 17th issue of the magazine the team went to New York and shot several editorials (which you’ll see when reading this issue). Anyway Columbine Smille has styled this jewelry editorial shot in a tiny hotel room in New York. The model, Luma, looks amazing as well as hair, make-up, clothing – and of course all the amazing jewelry including brands such as Cartier and Eddie Borgo. Very simple, luxurious and effortless cool, exactly the way I like it. The look I fell head over heels for was the one above – denim paired with denim, how cool?
