Magda Laguinge is my latest model crush. I just love her girly, but yet androgyne look – and of course, her short hair! I think she has got a bit longer hair now though… But oh my god, I got so obsessed with Hana’s hair last weekend I just wanted to cut my off immediately. I love that simple look short hair do. Anyway, Magda is seen all over for the moment and for instant you can follow a tiny bit of her model diary right here.
You haven’t missed the CR Fashion book’s tumblr right? I love the CR site and pretty much visit it every day since Roitfeld and her team cover everything from editorial fashion to the latest Daft Punk album and the Cannes Film Festival. In her editorial cover Carine puts a twist on wardrobe essentials. With model Xiao Wen, Roitfeld shows one of the most classical pieces of all time, a Chanel bag, in seven different ways. I love the fact that no matter what style you have, you can wear this timeless piece to it – from punk to hippie. The editorial is photographed by Max von Gumppenberg and Patrick Bienert, and styled by Carine herself.
My current obsession is a pair of white pumps, especially know for the summer. I spotted super cool Carine Roitfeld in a pair during the fashion weeks, which she of course looked great in. Anyway I dig the way Natalia Vodianova is styled above, with a chunky knit and a silky negligé – and of course a pair of white pumps. Gorgeous Natalia is captured by Alasdair McLellan for WSJ Magazine June 2013. Underneath you can see two pair from the brand Gianvito Rossi, that has the most comfortable shoes! You can find them here and here.
Carine Roitfeld is one of those genius within the industry. Ever since her first day at Vogue Paris as the chief editor she kind of revolutionized and agitated the way of looking at fashion. Her point of view stated so much of what not only the fashion industry is inspired of and relied on, but also topics that are relevant and present in the society. Topics like plastic surgery, children as models and smoking were all captured in her editorials and it was always very contemporary with debates within the industry. Anyhow, in her semi-annual magazine-books Roitfeld is influences by her surroundings – like the birth of her grandchild in her first issue ‘Rebirth’. And as I have mentioned before, her second issue is inspired by ballet and contemporary dance. That is why through-out the book dance is the topics of her editorials. In ‘Blood and Roses’, the beautiful super-model Sam Rollinson is captured by Anthony Maule in poses inspired by the just dance and styled in gorgeous SS13 pieces like the Balenciaga bustier and the quirky fur pumps from Céline.
‘It started out because I couldn’t find both of the earrings in a pair so I would just put different ones on, but now I do it all the time. It looks so cool, no?’ Carine Roitfeld says on her tumblr. Looks pretty cool to me, perhaps a new trend? Carine wears on the picture an earring from Dior, and in the other ear a delicate and more subtle earring from Chanel. Have a look at some more of her editorial snapshots here. By the way, I read an interview with her and she seems to be such a fabulous woman. Carine mentioned that because of her age, her body has started to get weaker, and that is why she began to dance ballet. The former editor in chief takes ballet classes every morning and got so inspired by the art form that she dedicated a whole issue of her CR Fashion Book to dance, and her second issue is simply called ‘Dance’.
I spotted the CR Fashion Book issue #1 in stores the other day and it really caught my eye. So I really wanted to share the beautiful cover, and some great photos from that issue. The book feature Kate Upton on the cover with the name ‘Rebirth’. Her daughter, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is also featured in the book from the time she was pregnant. The issue is full of images and ideas of birth, pregnancy and family. The ‘Lullaby’ editorial features the beautiful Marie Piovesan photographed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
Amazing former editor in chief at Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld, is taking over the post as global fashion director at Harper’s Bazaar US.Her first issue will be in March 2013. Roitfeld will work side by side with her close friend and Bazaar’s US creative director, Stephen Gan, on several stories a year starting with the March 2013 issues, while she continues with her other projects, like her CR Fashion book. She has been working with Stephen Gan before. He’s the design director of CR as well as the president of Fashion Media Group, which publishes CR as well as V, Visionaire, and VMAN. I am so excited to see how she is going to spice up the magazine with her french style.
