A friend of mine from New York, Ilona Hamer, started her own swimwear line last year called Matteau Swim. Ilona is a well-known stylist (doing a lot of work for Unconditional Magazine, Styleby, Russh and more) who also got a great eye for design and style. The line is beautiful with modern and classic pieces, very simple yet very tasteful. In their spring and summer campaign (I believe the girls when to Mexico and Coqui Coqui Hotel if I am not mistaken) they have shot their pieces for summer’16. My favorite set is the yellow one, almost mustard in the tone, worn by Phoebe Tonkin and photographed by Alexandra Nataf. The brand has also got a beautiful and inspirational Instagram, which you wouldn’t want to miss for one bit – find it here.
Miu Miu’s ad “Subjective Reality“, its their new campaign for the fall 2015 season inspired by street style icons and photography. As always, this campaign is also captured by Steven Meisel, this time on the sidewalks of New York. Four fast-rising actresses stars in the ad; Mia Goth, Maddison Brown, Hailey Gates and Stacy Martin. Earlier this year, the Prada-owned brand questioned the ordinary with a new installment of its commissioned Women’s Tales series. It’s worth noting that Miu Miu isn’t the only major—or only Italian—house to take its campaign to the streets this season. Gucci also shot its ads on the boulevards of Los Angeles. The marked difference, however, is that Miu Miu crafted staged scenes with full styling while Gucci left its magpies to mingle with the L.A. regulars.
There is this absolute hilarious irony over the latest Loewe Menswear FW15 look book. A long lost irony which is more than needed, especially in fashion. Yet again, Jonathan Anderson serves us with a beautiful quirky and elegant Loewe collection with a warm color palette and retro silhouettes, which flirts with a certain feminine side that also is seen in the design of Alessandro Michele.
The Winter campaign for the French house is yet again shot by Juergen Teller (with some mere exception for one or two seasons). The models are up and rising stars with barely no make-up and messy hair. Karly Loyce, Agnes Nieske, Lisa Helene Kramer, Irinia Djuranovic, and Sofie Fable Hansen are the faces you will probably see a lot more of in a near future.
I am in truly (yes, really) in love with everything Miuccia Prada does. She is a true genius of our generation and what she has brought to fashion is far from anything anyone has ever done (sorry Lagerfeld). The latest campaign ad from Prada menswear is shot by Craig McDean and features The Sheridan who is one of three new faces of Prada AW15. The 18-year old actor is wearing a nylon suit from the autumn and winter collection and it’s apparently a hark back the original, more simplistic days of the brand, much like the campaign. Also Soot McNairy and Michael Shannon stars in the ad looking away from the camera.
Truly dig these first pictures of the Étoile Isabel Marant collection for fall 2013-14. I like the fact that Isabel Marant has gone back to her “roots” – creating pieces that are timeless and wardrobe staples, but of course with a great cut. I had a hard time to relate to the current collection (the Étoile S/S13 collection) with all the flower tunics and pants, owl-printed pullovers, pale colors (like yellow and baby blue) and star-printed jeans… That is why I totally embrace what I have seen this far. Super like on the peacoat, the thigh-high suede boots, the knit and the slight flared jeans with a simple, crisp white shirt. The ad campaign is featuring gorgeous Andreea Diaconu and is photographed by Karim Sadli.
